Achilles: Legends Untold

Achilles Legends Untold places in the "early" in Early Access. The overall experience of the action-RPG is packed with concepts that seem as if they're still an epic adventure away from being fully developed. Combat, with Soulslike goals, appears good but it's a little flat. the initial stage of this game looks great and is packed with monsters to fight but it's not worth exploring. The story, aside from its fascinating interpretation of the demise of Achilles through a well-placed arrow taken from Paris of Troy is a joke and the characters are repetitive. It is a given that games that are early access are prone to glitches, at the time of launch, Achilles has more than it's fair share in terms of bugs, even by this standard. At the moment it's not a game with a legend to discuss.

The most imaginative aspect of the legend is that, after being killed our demigod's hero travels to Tartarus and has a meeting with Hades and Hades, who agree that it is in their best interests to allow Achilles be allowed to return so the demigod can take revenge. In exchange, Hades gets a superhuman device to fulfill his orders. The familiar characters, like King Agamemnon and King Agamemnon, meet the newly dead Achilles but aren't pleased to meet Achilles in his new surroundings. It's a great beginning however the rest of the characters and elements that have been introduced so far are mostly boring and the dialogue is boring.

Then, I went on to do several miles of moving from dungeon to collecting doodads for friends as I searched for Hades the big plan which takes around five hours to cross the present final destination. It was more troublesome than I needed it to be due to the lack of a minimap along with the huge distance between the two locations it's very difficult to lose the route. It's possible to speed-travel between shrines, however, since there's no official world map, it's difficult to pinpoint where they're relative to one another. For a good example of the problems this can cause beginning your journey, you discover an forge which is meant to be your initial place to upgrade and purchasing new tools... however, it's impossible to teleport there. Since I didn't know where it's located in a sea of similar rock formations and ruins and sandstones, I spent longer looking for it than playing with any crafting.

There's no reason why, within a reasonable amount of time Achilles: Legends Untold could not develop into an action adventure game with mythological dimensions. The foundations are there, which includes an adequate idea for an underlying story. However, what you will receive when you purchase the early access version of the game is boring combat and a void world and a by-the-numbers story that can be an unintentional Trojan Horse for a load of glitches and bugs so heavy Atlas can't even carry them.
